Inlays & Onlays

We offer range of Inlays and Onlays to our Lethbridge patients with damage to their teeth. Our dentist will let you know what the right one is for you.

What are Inlays & Onlays?

Inlays and onlays are custom-made fillings that fit precisely into decayed or damaged teeth. Inlays fit inside the cusps (or bumps) of a tooth, while onlays cover more surface area, wrapping over one or more edges of the tooth.

What are inlays and onlays made of?

Inlays and onlays can be made from a number of different materials, including porcelain, composite resin, or gold.

Each material has certain advantages and disadvantages. We will be pleased to help you select the material that is best suited for your teeth and your lifestyle.

Are inlays or onlays right for me?

Before recommending an inlay or onlay, we'll examine the tooth requiring treatment.

An inlay will be recommended if the decay or damage to the tooth structure is fairly minor.

Since onlays can help support the structure of the tooth, they are typically recommended for teeth with more significant damage.

How will my inlay or onlay be fitted?

Our dentist will place your Inlays and onlays over the course of two appointments.

Appointment 1:

During the first appointment, we will remove any decay from your tooth.

Next, we take impressions of your teeth, which we'll send to the lab where the inlay or onlay will be prepared.

At the end of this appointment, a temporary filling will be placed in your tooth.

Appointment 2:

During the second appointment, we'll remove the temporary filling and custom-fit and bond your inlay or onlay to your tooth.
